Now more than ever, nurses and other healthcare workers deserve to be celebrated — and this week is National Nurses’ Week.

Our top story tonight at 6... now more than ever -- there is a need to celebrate nurses and other healthcare workers.

This week is national nurses week.

And with the covid-19 outbreak ...people are finding some non-traditional ways to say thank you.

This includes today's f-15 flyover.

"making sure that we're not exposing people unnecessarily and so today's celebration what we're doing this week is how do we celebrate them in the most non traditional way."

Monday night during a shift change -- medical center, navicent health staff, the bibb county sheriff's office and fire department greeted nurses during.

And tuesday afternoon, robins air force base flew a f-15 eagle over hospitals to show their appreciation.

"knowing people are taking a pause in their regular function and work to take a moment to say we are here for you as you are here for us thats an incredible feeling."

Navicent president and ceo, ninfa saunders, say nurses are having fun with the non-traditional celebrations.

Two it's authentic and number 3 it's very inclusive of all of them."

She says the community has rallied around healthcare workers.

"it has never been publicaly put out there in such a way that the community at large and the country has single handily recognized healthcare workers likethey've never been."

Kegan hodges says we need to keep celebrating healthcare workers even after this week.
