According to brian ballou from o-d-f -- this one of the earliest southern oregon fire seasons in recent memory.

The start of fire season means the start of fire restrictions in jackson and josephine counties.

"the first thing that effects is a complete shutdown on open burning.

Piles of woody debris that you want to get burned, you are going to have to wait probably until fall."

O-d-f says 34 fires burned in the month of april so far -- burning a total of 32 acres.

Some of those fires started by burn piles that got away.

O-d-f took the lead on the shangrila fire last week that burned nearly 20 acres--but they had also had some help from local fire agencies.

Some of those local agencies support declaring fire season a little earlier.

"you will find that a lot of the departments are very much in favor of this.

Timing is always a question as to whether or not it is the right one.

There might be some rain that comes in the next couple of days or whatever.

But ultimately in the bigger picture, we are seeing that odf is concerned about chasing down these fires like the one in rogue river the other day."

On friday -- the fire danger level will start out at low--or green, the industrial fire precaution level will be level one.

That starts at 12:01 am on friday morning.

Here are some of those regulations that are going into effect,.

This includes things like fireworks and smoking in areas with dry vegetation.
