Statewide school closure affects employees

Rodneya we've been hearing a lot about how the change in school year impacts students and teachers-- but what about all the other school employees?

Right -- in addition to teachers, you have custodians, lunch staff, substitute teachers and now school systems here in north alabama are working to figure out how these employees will do their jobs.

We know the supplemental order governor ivey put in place gives local school districts the authority to decide who will have access to school buildings and to make staffing decisions -- as long as they follow public health orders and federal and state guidelines.

We can assume there will still be general building maintenance to keep up and that i-t staff will be needed to make sure online learning runs smoothly.

So far we've heard from the athens city school district who said they're already working on these plans.

We know other schools in the area are still working to figure out what they're going to do.

We will be working to find these answers and bring them to you.
