All undergraduate and graduate student travel, associated with OSU, to level 3 countries has been banned by OSU.

These are countries that the CDC has labeled as high-risk.

Has not*yet made its ways to corvallis... but experts at oregon state are doing their part to make the public aware of what to watch for.

Kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy spoke to experts about how this virus*compares to the flu.

Front: scientists on osu's campus say there are various levels of planning in place...because it is very possible to be re- infected, even after symptoms clear up.

"those people who look perfectly healthy and normal can be contagious."

Experts at oregon state tell me that it's not just those with a fever or cough...that can be infected.

The elements of this virus are a larger risk factor than many might think... "a symptom can initially look like the flu.

Also the outcome of infection has a huge variation.

A huge variation ranging from perfectly healthy to death."

Choon-hui chi at osu's center for global health has studied this virus extensively.

For those saying that this is all just like the flu...chi wants to clear one thing up... "no, this is not the flu.

The fatality rate...earlier estimation is about twenty times and recent estimation they revised, is even higher than the flu.

Chi says that while the majority of people infected will recover...this does*not make them immune to contracting the virus again... "this one of the most contagious viruses we have ever encountered."

Coming up at 6, learn why i'm told this is not a health crisis...people just need to remain alert.

Reporting in corvallis, kennedy dendy kezi 9 news.
