Earlier, riot police charged some of the demonstrators and also fired tear gas after two plainclothes officers were assaulted, according to local media The gathering marked the first large-scale protest in a fortnight, a week after Taiwanโ€™s Tsai Ing-wen won a second term in a fresh blow for Beijing.
