A new study from Sweden shows that losing just one night's sleep increases the levels of a particular protein in the blood.

According to CNN, tau is a protein that helps stabilize the internal makeup of brain nerve cells.

In Alzheimer's disease, an abnormal form of tau builds up, forms 'tangles,' and causes the interior of the cell to fall apart.

These abnormal tau proteins clumps are a key sign of Alzheimer's, frontal lobe dementia and Lewy body disease.
