Chick-fil-A, the American chicken sandwich giant, is being forced to close its first and only store in the United Kingdom -- just days after the store was first opened there.
There was a local backlash over the well-known and staunchly conservative religious views of Chick-fil-A's owners.
The store opened in a shopping mall in Reading, England, on October 10th and was quickly hit by protests by LGBT rights activists, as well as calls for a boycott.
According to the Guardian newspaper, the shopping mall owners announced last week they wouldn't extend their six-month lease.
The Chick-fil-A company said over the weekend that the decision was mutual.
