Manchester Utd set to miss goals, on and off the pitch

They're struggling on the pitch... and now off it too.

Soccer giants Manchester United have forecast a drop in revenue for the first time in five years.

The 20-time English champions endured a turbulent last season.

Manager Jose Mourinho departed amid recriminations.

Man Utd then finished sixth in the domestic title race.

That left them excluded from Europe's lucrative Champions League.

Instead they play in the much-less-money spinning Europa League.

And despite some big-name signings, this season isn't looking much better.

Patchy results mean new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already under pressure.

Investors have noticed.

Man Utd shares are down more than seven percent this year.

Now it says revenue will come in at up to 724 million dollars this year - down from 780 million last time.

That would leave it way behind Spanish rival Barcelona, which posted turnover of 1.1 billion dollars.

There is little sign that Man Utd is about to catch up -- on the field, or in the boardroom.
