France: Goal Is To De-Escalate US-Iran Tensions, Not To Arrange Meetings

France's foreign minister said Sunday his main aim is to de-escalate tensions between the US and Iran.

Reuters reports Jean-Yves Le Drian made the remarks Sunday, at this week’s U.N.

General Assembly meeting.

Le Drian explained that arranging a meeting between their presidents was not his top priority.

France has led a European effort to try and defuse tensions between Washington and Tehran.
