Police say former Oklahoma state senator Jonathan Nichols died from an apparent gunshot wound Wednesday night.

He was found dead inside his home in Norman.

On Tuesday, former Arkansas state senator Linda Collins-Smith was found fatally shot outside her home in Pocahontas.

A second former 4-state g-o-p state senator is found dead from a gunshot within a span of two days.

Police say former oklahoma state senator nathan nichols died from an apparent gunshot wound.

Wednesday night -- authorities found the 53-year old dead inside his norman, oklahoma home.

Norman police are working with the oklahoma medical examiner's office to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Nichols served in the oklahoma state senate from 2000 until he termed out in 20-12.

Tawnya: nichols' death comes just one day after former arkansas state senator linda collins-smith was found fatally shot outside her home in pocahontas on tuesday.

Police are investigating her death as a homicide.

Collins-smith served two years in the arkansas state house and four years in the state senate before leaving office earlier this year.

Tawnya: more than a dozen people are arrested
