Escape From Paradise: Resident Shares Video of Camp Fire Flanking Roads
Cal Fire officials said on Thursday, November 8, that the northern California town of Paradise was almost completely destroyed by a fast-moving wildfire dubbed the Camp Fire.
Residents of the Butte County town in the Sierra Nevada mountains faced a frightening and hurried evacuation from Paradise and surrounding communities as the wildfire advanced and drivers abandoned vehicles blocking roads.
Cal Fire warned thousands of structures had been destroyed, or were under threat, from the fire which exploded to cover 20,000 acres from early Thursday morning with the aid of gusting winds.
Paradise resident Laurie Pillsbury shared this footage of her escape from the town on busy roads flanked by flames.
