According to Reuters, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for the release of two journalists in Myanmar.

Secretary-General Guterres told reporters that he hopes the government will pardon them quickly.

The two Reuters reporters, Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, were convicted earlier this month under a colonial-era law regarding state secrets.

The reporters were detained last December, and plead not guilty.
