At 6... we start tonight with that fire that completely gutted a building downtown... kq2's brooke anderson is live along 10th street tonight with the latest on the investigation... alan -- fire crews were on scene here at south 10th street, right across from patee park, for about five hours battling the smoke and flames that left this building destroyed smoke was first detected coming from the structure just before 9 this morning this was not a vacant building -- it was home to a family owned and operated business called dent technology -- who specialize in making tools to repair dents witnesses say black smoke could be seen from as far away as the i-29 and frederick avenue intersection one witness who was working across the street at the time says he tried getting into the building with fire extinguishers before fire crews arrived on scene (sot robert: "there was a guy that came over and said 'hey do you own this building?
It's got a fire in it.'
We tried to get in but there was so much smoke coming out they said 'no, don't go in there'.
