A 25-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a collision between a pedestrian and a car in Paignton.

Lewis McKenzie, of Queen Elizabeth Drive, Paignton, is further charged with failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report a road accident.

McKenzie appeared before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 13 March.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Exeter Crown Court on 15 April.

Emergency services were called to Foxhole Road in Paignton at around 11.40am on Tuesday 2 March.

A male pedestrian aged in his 30s sustained life-changing injures and continues to receive medical treatment.

A 32-year-old woman from Paignton previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released on police bail until 29 March while enquiries continue.
