Police are appealing for help to reunite a devastated widow with ‘irreplaceable’ stolen jewellery after the burglar who targeted her Plymouth home was jailed.

Serial offender Thomas Guest, aged 30, was last week sent to prison for three-and-half years by a crown court judge.

But detectives have been unable to locate a haul of items of huge sentimental value taken during the break-in.

They belonged to, or had been gifted by, the elderly victim’s late husband.

Guest, previously of St Columb Minor near Newquay, targeted the recently-widowed woman’s home in the Crownhill area while she was out on the afternoon of Monday 3 August.

He also assaulted a neighbour who confronted him as he fled the scene.

Police hope members of the public can help them find the unaccounted for stolen items.

They include a Citizen watch, similar in appearance to a Rolex, that belonged to the victim’s husband.

It has a large cream-coloured face with gold hands and lettering and a metal two-tone bracelet in silver and gold.

The watch is of huge sentimental value.

Onyx cufflinks, which are silver or gold around the outside, were also taken.

A Pandora bracelet with a safety chain and pram and grandma beads, among others, bought to mark special occasions, was stolen.

As were eight women’s watches - one with a distinctive blue face from the shop China Blue.

Multiple troll beads of varying price and colours were also taken. Some of these are pictured on a bracelet.

Detective Constable Sadhbh Donnelly said: “There are a number of pieces of jewellery still outstanding from this burglary.

“The importance of these items to the victim goes beyond any monetary value.  They belonged to, or were gifted by, her late husband and are irreplaceable.

“I would appeal, on her behalf, to anyone who has seen or has knowledge of where these items may be to get in touch so we can return them to her as she is devastated at their loss.”

Guest (pictured) admitted burglary and assault causing actual bodily harm.

He also asked for six other offences, including two burglaries and four thefts, to be taken into consideration and was jailed by a judge at Plymouth Crown Court on 14 August.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the stolen items, or who has been offered them for sale, is urged to contact police.

Call 101 or email 101@dc.police.uk quoting crime reference CR/063693/20.
