Police appeal for help to identify witnesses to Torquay incident

Police investigating allegations of a sexual assault on a woman in Torquay have appealed for the public help to identify three people who may be able to assist with enquiries.

The incident was reported have taken place on East Street at the junction of St Efrides Road at around 1.20am-1.30am on Sunday 9 August.

Police have charged a man from Torquay in connection to this matter. He remains remanded in custody at this time.

Investigating officer DC Martin Key, said: “Whilst we have charged a man in connection to this incident, we are urgently trying to identify three potential witnesses who may have information vital to the investigation.

“The first witness [pictured] is believed to be a white male who was walking from Laburnum Row, onto East Street in the direction of Torquay police station, at the time of the incident.

“The other two witnesses were a male and female together in a vehicle. They stopped and assisted the victim and took her home in their car which is described as a small, silver, five door vehicle.

“The female driver is believed to have blonde hair and the male passenger is described as having long dreadlocks. They are believed to be Polish and living in the Paignton area.

“If you believe you know who any of these people are, or if indeed you think this may be you, please contact police on 101.”

Anyone who knows the man pictured, or may know the people described is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR/065657/20.
