*Sam Fender* has shared a beautiful rendition of 'Winter Song'.

The songwriter was set to have a tremendous 2020, lining up the biggest shows of his career to date.

Sadly, the pandemic put paid to that - bar a typically raucous home town date, of course - but he's ending the year on a high.

Opting to cover Alan Hull and Lindisfarne’s 'Winter Song', he's tackled a text that is close to the hearts of his North East community.

Typically raw and emotive, the song is driven forwards by a heart-on-sleeve vocal from Sam Fender.

He comments: “I wanted to do a Christmas song, and wanted it to be close to my home and my heart. For me, the words are more relevant this year than ever. Christmas won’t be the same for a lot of people this year, and that’s why I picked Winter Song. Alan Hull truly was one of the most fantastic and underrated writers of his time. Geordie legend.

Sam adds: “I hope I’ve done it justice, I’m really proud of it.”

The video was created in conjunction with People On The Streets, an organisation dedicated to helping Britain's homeless.

In addition to this, Sam will also be selling *The Big Issue directly on his website*.
