Broadcaster confirms the news...
Broadcaster *Phil Taggart* is leaving Radio 1 at the end of this year.
A hugely popular personality on the station, Phil's relentless enthusiasm for new music has broken countless acts from both the UK and Ireland.
Alongside this he's a successful DJ, promoter, and even an author, with his Slacker guide to the music industry well worth picking up.
Sadly, Phil will now be stepping down from Radio 1, with his last show coming on December 21st.
Calling himself the "Swiss army knife" of the station, he's occupied multiple roles, including his recent endeavour the Chillest show.
He comments: "The biggest buzz in the world is a listener letting you know that a piece of music you've chosen has changed their day for the better. I have broken so many artists, supported independent and unsigned artists and made so many friends for life along the way..."
Here's the news below.
Right... Here we go. I'm leaving Radio 1 on December 21st.
After ten years working and nine years broadcasting at @BBCR1 it's time to give up my seat and microphone and pass it on to the next person. Big love to @sianelerievans 1/11
