When Black Lives Matter protests swept across the country, attention began to become focussed on visible representation of our Imperial legacy.

In Bristol, they took matters into their own hands - and hurled a slave trader's statue into the harbour.

A city that retains a devout sense of its own independence, Bristol is *Eli Brown's* home city, a producer whose dark, brooding aesthetic splices together the harder edge of techno with elements of soundsystem culture.

An electronic musician whose time has come, he matches ghost-like echoes to a sense of something human, fusing the disorienting impact of synthetic sound to low end abstraction.

It's all done with a sense of directness, though, something that is emphasised on new single 'Killer'.

Aptly named, it's a potent, heady piece of electronic fare, in which moments of murky digitalism come shot through with light.
