A new biopic is incoming...

*Madonna* is set to steer her own life story in a new biopic.

The Queen Of Pop has led one of music's defining lives, an icon who can hold her own with anyone on the planet.

What better person to tell that story, then, than Madonna herself?

The Material Girl is co-writing a film about her career, partnering with Diablo Cody (who also wrote Juno) on the project.

Madonna will also direct the film, which will focus on the music: "Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive."

Speaking to fans on Instagram, she said the film would hone in on her "struggle as an artist trying to survive in a man's world".

Her relationship with Jean-Michel Basquiat will feature, alongside the controversy that surrounded her 'Like A Prayer' video.

"I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer - a human being, trying to make her way in this world," she comments. "It's essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision."

"There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me?"
