New plans emerge...

There will be no *Hyundai Mercury Prize* ceremony in 2020, it has been confirmed.

The annual event is a fixture on the music calendar, a celebration of British and Irish album releases from the previous 12 months.

Winners include Skepta, Arctic Monkeys, PJ Harvey, and more, and the final announcement usually takes place at London's eventim Apollo in Hammersmith.

Sadly, the pandemic has dashed these plans. This year, BBC4 will air specially commissioned performances from shortlisted artists on September 24th.

Alongside this, the overall winner will be announced on the One Show on BBC1 on September 24th, with Jools Holland interviewing the winner for a Mercury Prize Later... special on September 25th.

This year's nominees are:

Anna Meredith – Fibs
Charli XCX – How I’m Feeling Now
Dua Lipa – Future Nostalgia
Georgia – Seeking Thrills
Kano – Hoodies All Summer
Lanterns on the Lake – Spook the Herd
Laura Marling – Song for Our Daughter
Michael Kiwanuka – Kiwanuka
Moses Boyd – Dark Matter
Porridge Radio – Every Bad
Sports Team – Deep Down Happy
Stormzy – Heavy is the Head
