A U.S. missile cruiser has crossed the Panama Canal, heading toward the Caribbean in what many fear is a prelude to a wider conflict with Venezuela.
The USS Lake Erie entered the canal late Friday night and began its eight-hour journey toward the Atlantic, joining a massive U.S. naval deployment near Venezuelan waters.
