Justice minister Alex Davies-Jones says foreign criminals affected by the expanded “deport now, appeal later” immigration scheme would have been removed anyway, but that the process is now being sped up.
She also says it is unfair for UK taxpayers to fund their bed and board or for offenders to take up spaces in British prisons.
