President Trump will attend the opening of a controversial migrant detention center deep in the Florida Everglades, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz” for its remote, wildlife-infested location.
Built rapidly using Governor DeSantis' emergency powers, the facility can hold up to 5,000 migrants and is located on the grounds of a long-abandoned 1960s jetport.
Despite recent political friction, Trump and DeSantis will appear together at the launch.
Critics are alarmed over the harsh conditions and secrecy surrounding the project, which has already sparked a wave of protests and national debate.
