Study Finds Increased Mortality Risk for Elderly Patients with Overnight ER Stays

A recent study in JAMA Internal Medicine reveals a concerning trend: patients over 75 who spend a night in the emergency room before hospital admission face a higher risk of death.

Examining 97 emergency departments in France, researchers found a 30-day mortality rate of 15.7% for those spending a night compared to 11.1% for those admitted before midnight.
