CCTV in Ilfracombe, Devon, captured the moment the young girl got caught in the waves and swept out from safety in a matter of seconds.
Stunned onlookers thankfully reacted quickly by grabbing a life buoy and rescuing her before she was pulled further out, but the incident prompted the local coastguard to issue a fresh warning over the dangers of playing near waves over the summer.
