Two police officers wounded in NYC machete attack

The officers were attacked on Sunday (January 1) as they patrolled outside the security perimeter set up for New Year's celebrations.

New York City Police Commissioner, Keechant Sewell, said both officers were in stable condition after being hit in the head with a machete by a 19-year-old male who was shot in the shoulder by one of the officers.

NYC mayor Eric Adams commended the officers actions and said their response was in accordance with New York City police plans.
