A plane in Mississippi was hijacked, and the pilot threatened to intentionally crash into a Walmart supermarket.
Police have been helping Walmart and auto dealership Dodges evacuate their stores in Tupelo, northeast Mississippi, as they warned the situation could quickly deteriorate.
"Citizens are asked to avoid this area until the all clear is given.
With the mobility of an aircraft of this type, the danger zone is much larger than even Tupelo," the police agency said in a statement.
Authorities said they were first alerted at 5am by a misguided pilot flying a plane over Tupelo.
They said the pilot called 911 and threatened to intentionally crash into Wal-Mart on West Main.
The Twitter user, who posted a video of the plane, claimed: "Currently we have a 29 year old who stole this plane and is threatening to crash it into something." According to Flight Aware, the aircraft is a Beechcraft King Aire 90 owned by Southeast Aviation LLC.
This King Air plane has a speed of 206 miles per hour and an altitude of 1,100 feet, they said.
The user also said police, ambulances, and fire engines were all over the area.
