A 17-month-old girl has died in hospital after being attacked by a dog in her home in St Helens, Merseyside.
Merseyside Police said the family had bought the dog a week ago, and confirmed tests would be carried out on the animal to see if it was an illegal breed, as well as trying to identify its previous owners.
