"* let's start with the hayfield vikings boys' basketball team.

The team started the year at 1 and 2, but they weren't done.

The vikings won the class a state championship for the first time in school history.

The team had quite the welcome home.

"go vikings!"

Hayfield is a town of one thousand three hundred forty people... and almost every single one of them showed up to welcome the state champs.

The hayfield boys' basketball team claimed the class a trophy for the first time in school history.

"( we're proud o them.

Everybody is overwhelmed.

It was a tight game.

And when you're up there watching it, you're thinking oh, just don't let this slip away and they hung on, so it was awesome.

The team started slow this year ... losing the first two of three games.

Isaac came up to me and he said, "we're not supposed to lose like this.

What's going on?"

And i just looked at him and was we'll be fine, so after that, we came together as a team and we're stronger than ever.

The team felt the love from the community as they were welcomed home with cheers and honks.

The athletes hopped on the fire truck for a ride and were met with more excitement at the high school.

That was one heck of a welcome home, so thank you to the fire department, the hayfield ambulance and all of you that were there to welcome us, that will never be forgotten by any of us.

I want to thank my team.

These guys have been with me the last three years.

A lot of these guys i'm very close with.

It means a lot to finally win it.

I mean, to get there was a start.

To be able to go on a run like that and win it is just crazy.

I don't even know how to explain it.

It's been a tough year the vikings will graduate five seniors.
