EPD Cracking Down on Distracted Driving During 24-Hour Campaign

On April 8, the Evansville Police Department will be cracking down on distracted drivers during a 24-hour enforcement campaign called 'Connect 2 Disconnect.'

Meeting.... the evansville police department - joining law enforcement across the country - for a one day campaign called "connect 2 disconnect".... thursday - epd officers will conduct high- visibility patrols - in an effort to remind drivers about the dangers and consequences of texting and distracted driving.... on average - those who text while driving - look away from the road for five seconds - which at 55 miles per hour - is the same as driving a football field blindfolded.... the increase in patrol is funded by the national highway traffic safety administration... .
