Newswatch 12 sports josh shelton caught up with sandoval for this week's amamteur athlete.

Gabby sandoval: "in a game, one pitch at a time, for me that's really what i try to focus on the most."

Call it a clich... but that's how raiders ace gabby sandoval has approached every moment in the pitcher's circle.

One pitch at a time... all the way to the century mark.

On sunday-- the senior became just the ninth player in n-a-i-a history to reach 100 career wins.

In her career-- sandoval has received either a win or a loss in 117 games.

Yeah you did the math right-- she's only ever been credited with a loss 17 times in over 750 innings pitched.

<jessica pistole: "she confronts the things that are challenging in front of her.

It doesn't mean that she is gonna be perfect through them but she's not afraid of them and she's able to face them."

While not perfect-- sandoval has been pretty darn close to it.

In 2019-- she was named the n-a-i-a pitcher of the year and received the win as the raiders clinched their first national championship.

And now that sandoval reached her goal of 100 wins... she's just going to let the record books keep track of her win totals from here on out.

Gabby sandoval: "i'm just enjoying my fifth year that i got and just having fun with my teammates and just not really worrying about that stuff."

Jessica pistole: "she has a lot of confidence in her team playing behind her and our bats and so that allows her to stay patiently fierce in those scenarios."

Patiently fierce.
