The Lafayette police department got the call that shots had been fired into the headquarters around 4 O'clock Thursday afternoon.

They think it happened sometime Wednesday night.

Major development in downtown lafayette this evening as shots were fired at the tippecanoe county democratic headquarters.

I talked with the chair woman of the democratic party who has been involved with politics for around 20 years who says the violence needs to stop.

The tippecanoe county democratic headquarters is now riddled with bullet holes.

"this is where we are and where we are is very sad and this has got stop it's enough..

It's enough."-heather heather maddox has been involved with politics for around 20 years..

She says she never thought the violence happened in washington d.c.

"i thought you know you always get sometimes you get a random weird message that's just any party headquarters gets that but i never though about anything like this."-heather the lafayette police department got the call that shots had been fired into the headquarters around 4 o'clock thursday afternoon.

They think it happened sometime wednesday night.

"it's went from adrenaline to shock obviously shock right away and now it's just really sadness, sadness that we are here."-heather the indiana democratic party released this statement in regards to the events that have transpired.

It says in part ""it's not a coincidence to have a democratic party office experience a shooting not even a day after a domestic terrorist attack at the u.s. capitol.

The act of violence against the tippecanoe county democratic party headquarters is alarming and continues the dangerous escalation of violence against political organizations and american democracy itself.

" maddox says violence has no place in tippecanoe county.

"there is no place for it here there no place for it anywhere..

We all need to look at ourselves and make some chges because this is ridiculous."-heather the lafayette police department says there were around 6 bullets found at the scene.

Luckily no one was injured.

The shots fired incident is still under investigation.
