The economic impacts of the pandemic have been evident for months.

Locally, we've seen long lines for free food.

The need is still there and people locally may see some relief the usda's farmers to families food box program is gearing back up again.

Nationwide... hungry families will see 1 1/2 billion dollars worth of produce coming their way.

Here in northwest missouri... nearly one-hundred thousand boxes of food and milk have been handed out during the past three phases of the program... while st.

Joseph is still waiting to hear if they will receive the fifth round... organizers say they are ready for it and we still need it.

(sot ) "i knew, and i've always known that there is a need in our community for food.

I didn't realize it was at the magnitude that it was.

And that was the biggest take away for us.

I mean it's exciting to jump in again and to, to weight off of the shoulders of some of the people in the community who really needs this."

Weather permitting - food deliveries will begin shortly after january 19th and will run through the end of april.
