Local food pantry feeds hundreds of people

Serving Hearts Food Pantry made sure 300 families went home with food Saturday.

I'm outside of anchor church where volunteers from serving heart food pantry blessed many people just days before christmas.

Pkg: sot: "there's a whole lot of people that need help and love... and it starts with feeding people."

Robbbie gillespie is the coordinator for serving heart food pantry.

Gillespie said folks stayed in their cars as volunteers gave enough food for 300 households volunteers also gave away clothes.

He said they are happy to help the community especially during the pandemic.

Sot: "a lot of people have been laid off because of the corona.

They're not letting people work.

So there's a whole lot of people out there that are hungry."

Robbie gillespie- pantry coordinator volunteers packed bags with meat fruit, desserts, and bread.

Tupelo and verona residents stuffed bags with as much clothes as they needed.

Gillespie said he and volunteers wanted to spread joy during these tough times.

Sot: "there's a lot of people that have been hurting and hungry.

And you know you see the shootings and the way the world and everything is going on, it's just sad.

But it's such a blessing to be able to go in the community and help feed people."
