In an effort to ease the strain on hospitals and healthcare workers, Mississippi's hospitals must soon delay elective surgeries that require hospitalization.

The state health officer announced elective surgeries that require hospitalizations must be delayed starting tuesday of next week.

Doctor thomas dobbs shared that in a tweet this morning that also said nearly ten percent of coronavirus cases end up in the hospital.

He added many intensive care units in the state are full and many more hospitalizations are on the way.

The word about elective surgeries came on the same day the governor's new executive order takes effect.
