I'm patrece dayton.

Our team has had crews at the court-house 'round the clock since tuesday.

All while election officials worked through issues with ballot paper.

News 10's dominic miranda is at the vigo county courthouse.

A press conference was held there this afternoon.

He joins us now live to explain the delay in releasing vigo county election results.

I'm here live at the vigo county courthouse where vote tabulation has been happening since tuesday night.

It finally wrapped up early this afternoon.

At that time... we heard from officials involved with the process.

The "vigo county election board chair"... "a consultant for the equipment provider"... and "the democratic member for the election board"..

Spoke.

[take pkg incue: there were about outcue: bite.."that was done" duration:1:20] pk} there were about 43-thousand ballots across all vigo county vote centers.

Between 5 and 6 percent of them were on rolls of paper that were out of specification for our election equipment.

Officals say this issue wasn't noticed until election day as they started counting ballots.

Chair of the vigo county election board kara anderson says it was then decided to take as much time as needed.

"once the polls closed and we saw what we were up against...there was only one main objective: accuracy over speed.

We felt like we needed to take our time, do it right, protect the integrity of the ballot and everything that it stands for."

Once the problem was identified... officials recreated the ballots with issues on the correct roll of paper.

There was a 30 person team of 15 republicans and 15 democrats working to ensure every vote was counted accurately.

"everything was done to preserve the integrity of the vote...the safety of the vote...the fairness--it was a cooperative effort from democrats and republicans."

"it's an amazing group of individuals.

They worked hard for their fellow citizens to make sure that each vote counted and was counted with integrity and we can assure you that that was done."

The feeling at the courthouse this afternoon when results finally were released was one of immense relief.

We will continue to follow this story as far as the issues the county had with ballot paper and any ramifications that follow.
