Vanderburgh County Resumes Counting Ballots Wednesday Morning

Over 40,000 ballots remained uncounted following Tuesday's General Election.

This weekend.

Owensboro.

Just as votes are still bing counted around the country, here n vnderburgh county the election board is still tackling thousands of votes.

This morning ater a record hgh turnout of early and election day voters.

We still hve dozens of members from the vanderburgh county democrats and republicans hre.

There have aready been several vtes from election day but actually a lot of those votes in the early vote center still need to be processed.

>> so far 15,000 mail-in absentee ballots have been rviewed and are still being tabulated.

Vnderburgh county clerk says this is the first election the county has dealt with statemand.

With paper ballots instead of electronic ballots for early oting.

And that coupled wth the incredible voter turnout mde it difficult for the board to pocess the absentee and early votes on election night as they have been able to in years past.

Some of the key races in this election include the county recorder, county commissioner dstrict one seat.

Vanderburgh county counsel at large seat.

Hayden is also on the ballot herself running for reelection as circuit court clerk against a democratic challenger simone sandley.

>> overseeing the balots, both hayden and the poll workers here saying they're hoping to get through all of these ballots by if not tey are prepared to continue working through them tomorrow morning.

It's not just local rces.
