BX Food Pantry

Brainerd Baptist Church is giving back with the BX Food Pantry to help those in the Brainerd area that are in need.

Here are the details.

In tonight's health watch, a study looks at who's most at kay blevins >> i think you humored one of us will ask for having me absolutely personal t a little bit about this program and how it got started.

Will the ministries in our church realized that our church is sitting in the middle of the desert.

There by that i mean you're not grocery stores or places available to the greater community where they can buy groceries easily and a lot of people are shut in.

I have limited transportation rely on bus service or whatever and we thought that this would be an opportunity for our church to minutes to to our neighborhood people who are in crisis or emergency.

The in the food or grocery so this is why we are opening a food pantry that he is such a wonderful thing that you're getting back to the community like this.

Tell us a little bit about what folks can back they want to okay this is for the people who live in a zi code dreams will 11 and to have an emergency or who are needy at this time.

Particularly, i noticed pandemic.

It been very stressful for a lot of families that have not had jobs or have had to pay cuts in their work and so we are opening on the third wednesday of every month an opportunity for people to come to rpx and received groceries to the number people in their family will have staples and can do and the products and staples and vegetables inasmuch as we can and will give it out as long as the last becky.

What made you decide.

This was something i needed needed to be a part of one for me personally.

I have been involved in a food ministry for our the whole community of hamilton county quite a while, but not in our church and when one of the ministers approached me because i had already been working in that type of ministry.

I said yes i would be very interested in helping the people just in the brain are and so we've had an great turnout of volunteers from our church who also want to get involved and to minister to the people around us who are needy and the we've had donations that we have other opportunities where we feel lik we can really feel the need right now.

Where ca they go if they want a part of the program okay if the people who live in 37411 and no probably already know where the bx is located, such as come tomorrow.

Our our the third wednesday of every month to the back entrance of the bx.

That's where the soccer fields are located and come in those stores there be someone there to greet you and their shoppers who will help you and will we will do everything we can to make safe by wearing a mask and gloves.

The sanitizer the tables and everything that we use and will try to make it a very brief visit but will help carry out the groceries if they need that one thing that we are asking right now is that only one person, one shopper per family would go into the building so we just are trying to limit the number of people that go in to the building
