Local taxi company offers free rides to ballot drop boxes

Eugene Elite Taxi and Transportation is giving out rides to the ballot drop box for free.

They said they’ll go anywhere -- no matter the distance.

Election day is just 15 days away!

But getting that ballot turned in isn't easy for everyone.

As kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy shows us, there*are people around lane county willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that every vote counts.

This is just one of many ways community members have stepped up to encourage everyone to get out and vote...and with eugene elite taxi and transportation, it doesn't matter who you are or who you're voting for.

If you need a ride, they'll be on the way.

Jenna: "i just want to make sure they feel confident they can get their vote in and not be stressed about that."

It's a company that's been around since*february...but was quickly shut down due to the pandemic.

Since then this primarily*female team of drivers say they're willing to go the extra mile...to help those struggling financially or anyone feeling loads of stress.

Martina: "a lot of people have been displaced and have lost their cars and ability to get around.

And with election day right around the corner, as they put it, getting to the drop box shouldn't be a burden.

Martina: "we would like to reach out to the community and help people get their ballots into the ballot box so all of our votes can be counted."

They just need*notice at least a day in advance.

And can make round trips from 9-11 a-m or from 5-7 pm to still leave room for their*other rides that are relying on them.

Jenna: "it doesn't matter where your vote lies, we will get you to the ballot.

We want every vote to count."
