A man who invested everything into his Berry Creek home came back to find it gone.

Memories and photographs -- are all thats left of the past 8 years.

"and pretty soon the flames were over those trees.

Those trees are over 100 feet tall" (nats: stepping on glass) glass on the ground... bitchin says when he came back he was overcome by a rush of emotions.

"at first shocked, then sadness, then grief that it was all gone then acceptance."

Acceptance -- giving him strength to move forward.

Bitchin did a lot before he came to berry creek with his wife.

The sailing lifestyle with his wife.

"then we decided to get off the boat i'd been living on that boat at that time for 25 years.

And i decided we wanted to go somewhere beautiful."

That beautiful location bitchin is talking about is berry creek... now wiped out.

(standup:) "as bob just mentioned the bear fire ripped through his home but some of the weirdest objects that survived during the fire are three of his bear statues.

Take a look at this one here behind this one is 7 feet tall and it's made out of bronze."

Bitchin says before the fire he felt like he made it in life... but bitchin says god decided he needed a new adventure.

"when you lose everything and then you come back, the feeling you get in here can't be gotten by watching a movie, watching a television.

You have to get out and accomplish something."
