A man who invested everything into his Berry Creek home came back to find it gone.

Invested everything into their berry creek home came back home today to find it gone.

Action news now reporter jafet serrato shares this story of moving forward -- from heartache.

(take pkg) all soundbites from bob bitchin!

(nats: footsteps in rubble) bob bitchin -- walks down a pile of rubble where his berry creek home once stood.

"from this point here this is the building over here, this was our porch with the jacuzzi.

There's the jacuzzi" all of this destruction used to look like this.

Memories and photographs -- are all thats left of the past 8 years.

(nats: camera taking pics sound) but it all got taken away by the bear fire - this is video from bitchin's home security camera.

It shows you just how close the fire got.

"and pretty soon the flames were over those trees.

Those trees are over 100 feet tall" (nats: stepping on glass) glass on the ground... bitchin says when he came back he was overcome by a rush of emotions.

"at first shocked, then sadness, then grief that it was all gone then acceptance."

Acceptance -- giving him strength to move forward.

Bitchin did a lot before he came to berry creek with his wife.

"1974 i was evil kavenils traveling companion and body guard" you heard right... you can see bitchin in the left of this picture holding evil kavenil right before a jump at la colesium.

"he went into the canyon... 1974 i started a magazine for bikers back then" (nats: tv show intro) then came his own television show called latitudes and attitudes.

The focus?

The sailing lifestyle with his wife.

"then we decided to get off the boat i'd been living on that boat at that time for 25 years.

And i decided we wanted to go somewhere beautiful."

That beautiful location bitchin is talking about is berry creek... now wiped out.

(standup:) "as bob just mentioned the bear fire ripped through his home but some of the weirdest objects that survived during the fire are three of his bear statues.

Take a look at this one here behind this one is 7 feet tall and it's made out of bronze."

"it's so strange.

When we rebuild that bear will stand right there."

Bitchin says before the fire he felt like he made it in life... but bitchin says god decided he needed a new adventure.

"when you lose everything and then you come back, the feeling you get in here can't be gotten by watching a movie, watching a television.

You have to get out and accomplish something."

In berry creek jafet serrato action news now coverage you can count on!

Bitchin tells action news now a friend recommended they live there in 2000... they built that home in 2012.

He also says he is currently waiting word from 'fema' about the debris removal process... in the meantime they are staying in oroville.
