Some stores in the New Hartford Shopping Center remain boarded up.

New hartford went viral....stores in the new hartford shopping center still have their windows and doors covered.

News channel 2's brent kearney spoke to some business owners that tell him why they continue to have their windows covered and why some didn't bother to at all.

.

None businesses here at the new hartford shopping center are continuing to air on the side of caution.

This all in response to that craigslist post they offered to pay people to protest at the new hartford shopping center.

Police saying they couldn't find any evidence to back up that post.

Vo: since i was here yesterday a few other businesses including over to lowe's as well as the olde wicker mill have boarded up their store fronts.

Some of those businesses including over to a vitulloes or closed.

Laura miziack owner of the ole wicker mill tells me group of businesses here at the shopping center got together and decided to board up.

Laura sot: "their were several of us that got together yesterday morning at the shopping center.

And we discussed it.

Even though none of us wated to believe anything was going to happen we felt it was best to air on the side of caution.

Alot of us have been in business for alot of years and these are very personal for us these are our livelihoods these are our stores.

41 years ive put into this business and we just felt like to just take the precaution to just board up."

More vo: the olde wicker mill remains open.

But some businesses here decided not to board up.

Owners are one reality said they were confident from what they heard from their police department as their community that these protests would be peaceful one sot we decided not to board up because like what our mission statement says, do good and inspire change.

We feel the community at large is seeking to pursue change and pursue something different.

"we have alot of faith in our community we think utica is going to set an example for protests across the country because we feel its important that people say what they need to say.

And hopefully change will come out of it."

In in terms of when these businesses will take off of the plywood and the ones that are closed will reopen laura tells me thas scheduled to happen early next week.

But miziack says business owners are just glad nothing happened.
