No injuries were reported from the fire, no structures burned.
Cal Fire says crews were already spread thin, and the smoke prevents even more challenges.
Tonight - a fire in concow - witnesses there say a person started a fire inside a vehicle that spread into vegetation -- it led to an evacuation warning for neighborhoods in that area.
Action news now reporter esteban reynoso was at the scene of the hoffman fire.
He spoke with calfire, about the difficulty fighting new fires.
You could see a lot of scorched earth behind me, there are still some tracks in the scorched earth.
Fire engines are here for a little bit while longer at this approximately 7 acre fire called the hoffman fire.
Calfire tells me that even though resources are spread thin throughout the state, they still made the effort to keep this fire small.
"this is really what we did not want to see is new fire starts."
Calfire says this small hoffman fire caused resouces to divert from other assignments.
"normally we would be just have a typical vegetation fire dispatch.
But now it's a matter of scrambling, and finding, we've got the resources, we're sure we have the resources to respond to things like this.
But it stretches it even more thin."
Because of the thick smoke, and air attack drop was cancelled.
But even with short handed staff and lack of air support -- "they did a great job of getting this stopped because this camelot area of concow is an area with a lot of fire history."
And people like brenda rightmyer know of it's history all too well.
"we have a responsibility to do that."
It was only recently that this vegetation was trimmed -- or rightmyer says this fire could've been a lot harder to fight."
"i'm just tickled that stuff can work.
Just to know that ten days ago the weeds were over four feet tall."
