Huntsville madison, and madison county schools may be learning virtually for the first nine weeks of class but they're still preparing for when students walk through school doors like the one behind me.

Part of that prep includes the more than 80 page toolkit you just mentioned.

Here at huntsville city schools, health services coordinator, andrea penn, says much of what's in the toolkit was already in place in the district's reset plan.

Each school in the district already has its own nurse and is setting up areas to isolate students with symptoms. while they make plans, penn says they'll keep an eye out for new guidelines.

Plans change, things change, cdc guidance has changed several times and so we are just again working to stay abreast of all the current guidelines from adph and cdc so we can make sure we mitigate the risk to students and staff as much as possible huntsville city school received close to 2 million from a state grant and right now they're working figure out how that money will be spent.

Madison city schools received around 1.5 million from that same grant and used some of it to purchase medical supplies like gloves, masks and thermometers.

They are still working to determine what they will purchase with the rest of the money.
