Today, state troopers said it could take about two months to figure out what caused an accident that killed three people near falkville in morgan county.

But alabama's highway patrol said it's investigating this as a homicide.

Troopers said thomas shumate was driving an s-u-v and turned in front of a motorcycle ridden by scarlett and dennis hayes.

Nikki robbins didn't see the crash happen but drove past the scene.

She told me the images are stuck in her head.

Nikki robins: "it was very disturbing, you know, they still had the bodies there and sheets, and you could see the blood.

It was very graphic and very disturbing."
