New recovery plan at MVHS
New recovery plan at MVHS

Layoffs and furlough are on the horizon at MVHS, and CEO Darlen Stromstad says they're closing Faxton Urgent Care as well.

Revenue recovery and restructing program that is being planned right now.

Mvhs says federal relief funding has stablized the financial situation for the hospital system for the short term but will not sustain it long- term.

That's the message from the president and ceo.

Darlene stromstad says the plan will include realigning services and redefining priority focus areas.

--that will mean eliminating positions and severances, extending or adding new furloughs, consolidation....and more.

Stromstad says in- part quote: "while are our volumes are increasing slowly, we are uncertain if they'll ever go back to what they were, and in some areas we are seeing little to no volume.

To put this in perspective, even if we operate at 85 percent of our pre-covid volumes, we will sustain monthly losses of between $5 and $7 million per month, or about $86 million a year.

Clearly this is not sustainable."

Stromstad ...who declined an on camera interview...says more details will be released in the coming weeks.

As for faxton urgent care.... she says telehealth services will be available until august 31st.

In the meantime -- development of a new mvhs hospital continues
