Nettleton Faith Food Pantry gives out near 80lbs of food to each family.

Some have turned to food pantries for help.

Wtva's chelsea brown was in nettleton and spoke with one food pantry about how much food they give out.

Faith food pantry serves those in northern monroe and south lee county.

I spoke with executive director jim long today about how important it is to serve the community.

Most of them are very appreciative.

We have a regular clientele, most are regulars."

The nettleton faith food pantry volunteers pick up donated food from places like walmart, sams, and kroger to give to families.

On wednesday's the food pantry gives out emergency boxes for families that couldn't come to regular give out days.

"something's developed, husbands lost his job you lost your job.

It allows them to get some food."

The emergency boxes are avaliable for thoses who could not make it to regular pick up days.

He says recently he has seen more families picking up.

"on a regular give out, we give out about 80 lbs of food."

To pick up food, families have to be at or below the poverty level and they have to have an id to pick up food.

"the lord says love your neighbor so if you don't love your neighbor you don't love your lord" a household can only pick up food once a month.
