This morning, decatur city council members are waiting until next week to decide on a mandatory mask ordinance.
The council was set to vote on the ordinance last night, but that vote was delayed until after the holiday weekend.

After 2 hours of discussion at last night's city council meeting---we still have no decision on that controversial ordinance.
City council members say they need more time to look over it.
According to the 5 page ordinance we received, you could face a fine up to $500 and up to 30 days in jail for not wearing a mask in public.
There are some exceptions listed like when you're eating, drinking, or getting a medical exam.
Still- the city seems to be split on the rule that could become the first of its kind in north alabama.

At the meeting, there did seem to be more people against the ordinance, but we're told the people who support it are emailing their views to the council rather than risking exposure to the coronavirus.
A work session is scheduled for 4 p-m on monday to discuss the proposed ordinance.
