Leaders cancel 2020 Apple Popcorn Festival

White County's annual event cancelled amid COVID-19 pandemic.

New this morning, the 20-20 apple popcorn festival has been called off.

Organizers site legal advisers and medical advisers as a major role in their decision to (not host the event this september due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, leaders say they will be back next year.

Leaders want vendors that rented a space for this year's event to know it will carry over into 20-21.

In a response to the event's facebook post, one community member wrote: "sad to hear, but i respect and agree with your decision.

Thank you for looking out for your vendors and patrons."

Another person took the announcement harder, writing: "this is how traditions are lost, cancellations and whatnot.

Alot of money will be lost to the town of brookston because of this decision made by the local governement and not the people who are the ones that actually make it ppen."
