family wants hate charges

At ten tonight... 3 the fbi is now involved with an investigation concerning the stabbing of 18 year old holden white on sunday..the suspect 19 year old chance seneca is in custody facing charges of attempted second degree murder... whites family says they believe holden, identifies as lgbtq+ is a victim of a hate crime despite the lafayette police departmen's report.... which suggest no evidence to support those claims...we want to warn you some of the details in this story are grafic....news 1's leigha mcneil has more from whites family.

Standup: rayette gespar , holde's mother say right now i's still unclear if holden will have any long term brain damage from the attack...she tells me her son has been in the icu since sunday and didnt remember anything when he first woke up but now thats changing"he kind of remembers bits and pieces.

I was kind a hoping he would't remember anything but some of i's starting to come back to him a little bit."

The suspect 19 year old chance seneca, has bon set at 250,000...holden and his family say they fear seneca ill post bond"h's absolutely afraid of that h's afraid that someone else is going to get hurt this man obviously is very violent and h's demonic in my opinion i mean who wants to dismember another person.""those are the things you see happening in big cities somewhere across the country you do't hear about 18-year-olds you know with somebody luring them to their home and attempting to slaughter them not in lafayette louisiana."

Matthew humpfrey president of pflag lafayette, a support group for members of the lgbtq plus community and their family believes the police department decided against hate crime charges too soon "from an outsiders point of you the fact that h's got jeffrey dahmer as his facebook profile when jeffrey dahme's lured gay men into his apartment which he was gay and you know tourture them kill them and then perform sex acts on their dead bodies this and this is someone that this defendant apparently idolized and then did this to holden.

With the fbi now spear heading the investigation...both humphrey and gespar hope hate crime charges can be applied."w're not sure what to do at this point or how to protect him obviously we ca't keep a guard at the door.
